Since you're a Greek national, did these schools state you'd get a Z visa?

I feel that nomad soul asks a very valid question that should be at the top of your list of questions.

I think it would behoove you to first check if this school can indeed sponsor your Z visa. That is the first and most important step. If they can't, then move on.

Warm regards,

I was always under the impression that Z visas are for native speakers from England, Canada, the US, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and possibly South Africa.

If I was the OP, I would check to make sure you have a valid visa to teach. Better to be safe than sorry.

Google Rockies English China teacher. Recent accounts from several former teachers include:

Quote:
(May 2017) They do not abide by the contract. Beware!: I was unable to find an apartment in time and thus was forced to pay for the hotel room from my own pocket which amounted to over 1500 rmb. If I hadn't paid, they wouldn't have returned my passport. They literally held my passport as collateral. They only had my passport, in the first place, for attaining a working visa.
...
Further, they don't pay on time and when they do they don't provide a pay stub stating your deductions. They take complete advantage of the fact that you are outside your country. I literally felt abandoned as soon as I arrived. I plan on taking them to court for breach of contract/holding my passport as collateral.

Quote:
(February 2018): english teaching school in china that is as shady as they come. was told they would assist me in obtaining a work visa once i got there only to discover later that never happened. was not able to continue

Quote:
(March 2018): I regret to have to say that I also had the misfortune of working for this organisation. This is an organisation that sends teachers to work in schools which do not have a licence to have foreigners working there. What I found out from working for this organisation was that all salaries are paid under the table.
....
This organisation does not pay its staff members during the vacation. Some other serious things which this organisation did which can cause trouble for the teachers is that they provide false information to the police about where the foreign teacher lives and about where the foreign teacher works every day.

Kiddie English's website does not specifically indicate Taizhou. Maybe you meant within Zhejiang Province.

Was it this ad: http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/china/index.cgi?read=54223? If so, it only lists teachers from Anglophone countries.

Or...

Was your interview with Kiddie English Academy? If so, see http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=116058 from last year.
