Are most Saudi-based EFL teachers still getting annual increases or are salary reductions or freezes the new norm? The economy continues to be in very poor shape-except for the recent boost in oil prices. |

Well some places have frozen annual raises. Other places still give raises but employees have to pay dependent fees every month. Also there is now a 5% VAT or sales tax. In addition water, fuel , and other things have gone up in price. Also a lot of the job adds on Dave’s don’t seem as lucrative as before.
With that said I still find it financially better than most western countries. If one limits eating out , trips to Bahrain/Dubai and don’t go to crazy in summer vacation I still think you can save a large amount of money. |
