Hi. My school is working on getting a visa for a new teacher (American), who has changed her name due to marriage. The local citizen's home is saying that, beyond her marriage certificate, she must also have a notarized and authentic name change record. In the United States there doesn't seem to be any official record given to signify a name change in cases of marriage and divorce. Does anybody else have experience with this? What document exactly does this teacher need, and how can it be obtained?

If you changed your name at the time of your marriage, you may use either the original marriage certificate or a certified copy as proof of the change. A certified copy typically has a raised seal and indicates the copy has been certified by a government official, such as a court clerk.

Has the name on her passport changed? If not just use that name.
