My experience is similar to Greg. My own university contract finishes at the end of July, so they've continued classes past the usual cut-off date to ensure I'm working online until the contract ends.
I came home (Ireland) for a three week holiday in January, and I've been stuck here since. I packed light when I returned so most of my stuff is still in the University accommodation. While the University has made noises about respecting my privacy (and possessions), I'm highly doubtful they will... I've been in China long enough to know how things work.
My residence permit expires at the beginning of August, and with no realistic chance of returning to Xi'an before then, I'm not really interested in returning to China when it all clears up. No telling when that will be or the hoops needed to jump through. With all the nationalism that's being going on, , and the HK situation, I suspect we've all finally reached a turning point for China (Yes, I've been in China just over a decade). |
