|
|
Greetings Forum:
I stole this little quiz from a good friend and thought you might like to play along.
The title of this quiz is: "TWO TOUGH QUESTIONS"
Question 1:
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend she have an abortion? **
Read the next question before looking at the answer for this one.
Question 2:
It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are a few facts about the three leading candidates.
Candidate A -
Associates with crooked politicians and consults with astrologists.
He's had two Mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.
Candidate B -
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.
Candidate C -
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.
OK: Which of these candidates would be your choice? Decide first, no peeking, then scroll down for the answer.
Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Churchill.
Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.
** And, by the way, the answer to the abortion question: If you said "yes" to question #1, you just killed Beethoven.
And finally: Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and boasts the following statistics:
29 have been accused of spousal abuse.
7 have been arrested for fraud.
19 have been accused of writing bad checks.
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses each.
3 have done time for assault.
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit.
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges.
8 have been arrested for shoplifting.
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits.
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year.
Can you guess which organization this is
Give up yet?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of people that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.
OK: Be honest! How many of you either A) killed Beethoven and/or B) elected Adolph Hitler to a second term in office? |

The one about the US Congress is an urban myth that has long been exposed as such. It is impossible to find any US Congress to which it applies. This link makes this clear.
http://www.ulrc.com.au/html/report.asp?CaseFile=ULRR0049&Page=1&View=Request&Collection=Political
If you do a Google Search on urban myths + US Congress you'll find that URL together with many other links, such as ones referring to the purported testimony of Oliver Stone that the boards resident redneck published a few weeks ago |

Hi Kent:
I too killed Beethoven and elected Hitler.
I guess that says something about taking things on face value only.
Does this mean that the more faults you have,it makes you a better person? If so that makes me great! |

The more faults you have the better you are ?
I will have to change since at the moment I have NO faults at all - not even vanity. Must go and check out the seven deadly sins and do a bit of practice.
grouchily yours

Perhaps there's some kind of Frequent Sinner's card? If you get it stamped to show that you've commited six of the deadly sins, you get the seventh one free. |

Ha! I beat your test. Finally that history degree has shown it's value. I had a gut feeling that the first question was going to be about some genius, although I didn't know who. And choice C in the second question just sounded a lot like Hitler. |

Dear scot47,
" The more faults you have the better you are ? "
Why, of course. I'm amazed that to you, with all your years, decades even, in the Kingdom, this should come, apparently, as a surprise. Good Lord, man - look around you. Who occupy the places of power and authority, who have all the money, the babes and the fame? Why who else but the wicked? You can do good or you can do well, but you can only do better if you're worse.
Regards,
John |

I pat myself on the back for electing Churcill.aRe drinking whisky and sleeping until noon bad things? The only fault I find with this is if you drink a full bottle you should sleep LATER than noon. Not everyday--as I once told a boss "it is slander that I drink everyday-sometimes I am too sick to drink." |

I am surprised at how often the subject of alcohol comes up on this forum. Are johnslat and I the only teetotallers in the world of EFL ? |
