No underlinings? No folding down the corners of the pages to mark your place? No coffee stains?

What planet are you from?

It's strange and wrong I'll admit, but to me dogearing a good book would be like breaking a lover's finger during sex.

Hmmmm..... Smile

Ah, but loving is sharing.

That's exactly what my therapist said before putting me onto twice-daily sessions and taking away all my cutlery. Smile

At least he left you your books.

The quote you use in your signature--where's it from?

I agree with R.Dog-earring a good book is totally unacceptable. You must use a book-mark.BTW,what does sex have to do with reading a book?Totally different in my "book"!

Shonai Ben - you're right, they're very different. One can be an intense, emotional esperience in which you come close to somebody in a way that's otherwise impossible, a rewarding trip that's much anticipated and can leave a strange kind of ennui afterwards... and the other one's sex!

Lucy - the quote is from a Kevin Spacey film called Swimming With Sharks (it may be caled The Buddy Factor outside the UK). It's basically a showcase for Kevin Spacey's abilities at insulting people, and it's none the worse for it.

John - that's true, but you share WITH what you love, you don't share what you love. Smile

Before this goes any further I should probably state that I do have a social life and I leave the house sometimes (often with a book, admittedly)

Sex is OK in my book anytime.I prefer not to just read about it though.
Is there any such thing as bad sex?Nope, don't think so.

Dear scot47,
" sex is OK "
Just OK? Hmm, you HAVE been here too long. But seriously, it's the D i c k in D i c k e n s that causes the problem. But then D i c k s have caused problems for untold centuries. And don't tell anyone else, but I actually think a good book is BETTER that sex ( yup, I've been here too long, too ).
Regards,
John

Really? You've never had bad sex? I don't mean bad in a 'bad movie' kidnd of way, where you rent it and it's fun because it's so awful (obviously it's the film you rent, not the sex(?)). I mean it in a so-bad-it's-bad-way. I'm trying to think of a film that's as bad-bad as bad-bad sex but I can't at the moment.

A good book is definitely better than sex. Usually though, unless it's REALLY good sex, there's time for both.

Bad sex,bad films.Whoa.I am getting confused here.Anyway, what I meant was that I would take sex, even bad sex, before I would sit down and read a book.

But surely that must depend on how bad the sex was? Have you really never had the kind of sex that's slightly less engaging than cutting your toenails?
