Berlitz was Japanese-owned the last time I heard. And before that they were part of Maxwell's portfolio, before he went for that unfortunate "swim". |

Right you are! Surprisingly, it was a German entrepreneur living in America who began it.

| I think the lowest pay in my town is 14.50euro/45minutes. My lowest is 15euro but i'm only there 4 or so teaching hours/week and I like the people and i don't prepare but even then I'm still disgusted how low it is. It should never be lower than the Volkshochschule which is 17.50euro here... |

The VHS doesn't pay badly, if what I heard was correct.
I knew a German who taught English there, and he said he got DM 50 per hour.
I though that sounded pretty good. So far as I'd heard, the El Cheapos paid less than DM 20 per hour at the time. |
