If you were a newcomer (all of you oldcomers) to the Latin America region, where would you go and what would you see for a two-week vacation? I'm currently in San Salvador...would you head off to S. America or explore the adjoining countries first?

Two weeks isn't much time. If I were in your place, I'd probably head for Guatemala and Honduras, but that's just me. I'm kind of partial to the climate, geography, people, and cultures of those countries. |

Thanks Tim - the teachers here are rather partial to Antigua for a quick trip - it is on my list. I've heard of so many nice places in the general vicinity...I guess I'll be getting more time so I'm thinking of S. America - maybe an 'ecotour' or something. |

I was in Antigua for 3 days. It was a very enjoyable time, but oh, so short.
In El Salvador, I like Lago Coatepeque, but I was always in a private area. Don't know of public beaches on the lake, b/c my time in El Salvador was always very "protected." But it sounds like you wanted to get out of the country, anyway. |

Thanks Tamara, I will be going to that lake for a church 'advance' in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to it... |
