JT,
By all means come to this lovely place, but don't expect it to be the panacea for the ills you are currently experiencing in the UK.
Institutions here can pick and choose the higher degrees for teachers, as there's no shortage of qualified people queueing up for a slice of the Arab oil money.
The flip side may catch you offguard however. When you get here with your fancy degrees and full of 'new broom sweeps clean' enthusiasm, and find you are teaching fractions to late teenagers, who have little motivation to learn, and maturity ages similar to your shoe size, then you start to realize the big picture.
If nothing else, working here for a period of time will allow you to appreciate what you have left behind, and maybe the UK doesnt look so bad after all.
just a thought
