Hi

I am travelling to Bali in January and need some up to date information on getting from Jakarta airport to Denpasar. What are my options and the costs involved.
Any bit of info will help, as long as it is current.

I hope someone can help me?

Many thanks

Have you tried Lion Air? Prices are about Rp250,000 ( less than 20) one-way. Alternatively, if you don't fancy living dangerously, you could take a boat. Pelni run KM Dobonsolo, which goes from Tanjung Priok (the port), an easy taxi-ride from CGK airport. The trip takes two days, and stops in Surabaya for a few hours. I paid Rp700,000 for a first-class cabin. I arrived all nice and relaxed. Ahh! Mind you, you'll have to time it right, 'cos they only go about once a month.
Have a good holiday!

Thanks

Several flights a day. The flight takes about 1.5 hours. There are other internal airlines, but I can't remember the names. Sorry! Sad
Ah! Merpati! That's another one. I don't know...you leave the country for 5 minutes and the memory goes. Must be my age.
Bouraq. That's one more.
Glad to be of service. BTW, if you don't have accomodation sorted, try The Raja Gardens on Jalan Ambimanyu in Seminyak. Run by an Aussie called John. Super guy, lovely place. Near to the beach and the nightlife, but quiet at night.
Enjoy!

I tend to use Garuda which is more than double the price of Lion, but reliable. I've used Bouraq, Lion and one other one which use old Boeing 727s, I too have lost my memory. I've never felt any less safe using the cheaper airlines.
If you're in the area, go to Global Travel (I think that's the right name, close anyway) next to Yaudah Bistro in Jalan Jaksa. They're a good bet.
Otherwise just turn up at the airport on the day of travel (early) and do the rounds of the ticket offices. Best get a return (roundtrip) as the agents in Bali are prone to a bit of overcharging.

I flew to Batam with Bouraq and they were fine. That was only the once though. Smile

Damn, I wish they'd had cheap flights like that when I went to Bali last. I had nightmare trips. In one section I spent nine hours lying down on the floor under someone's seat, with no room even to turn over onto my back, it was that packed. Bad timing (Lebaran).

I assume you weren't flying Winmar!! You didn't say by which mode of transport you travelled. Sounds like a bus journey? I once went by train and bus from Jakarta to Denpasar, it took 36 effing hours. Nine hours under someones seat? I wasn't that unlucky though! I damn well flew back though!
