I was in contact with them and I do not remember all of the details now, but it seems to me that they expected quite a lot but gave very little.
I seem to remember they only offered $500 airfare, about 10 days vacation from which sick days are subtracted, etc., etc..
I basically told them I was not interested, and that if they wanted a quality teacher who was going to stick around that they should be less like slave drivers and more like reasonable employers.
The main problems were:
1. Only 1 western teacher expected to teach up to 6 days a week including split shifts. Essentially on-call for 12 hours a day.
2. 10 or 12 holidays from which sick days are subtracted from.... most schools offer at least 12 or 15 holidays + sick days.
3. $500 flight reimbursement
4. The housing is shared with a manager from the school (basically your boss), and if you do not want the housing, I think you were responsible for some of their deposit or rent???? Can't remember now.
5. 1 million rupiah medical coverage - a pathetically low amount.
6. Salary was 8 million /month.... but only 50000 overtime...
Thats all I can remember... I turned them down. |

Thanks for the info drgonzo.
Just wanted to know about the school after seeing their ad on the net. 8 mil? for up to 30 hours per week? That's lower than EF. Doesn't seem to make sense. |
