Patrykt,
Far be it from me to hog any of the credit. I don't need any since I'm retired. I was passing it on to Lucy K.
Personally I found very little abuse in the Middle East and all of my employers always followed every detail in the contracts to the letter. But then, I have always chosen my employers very carefully.
Good Luck getting out of where you are...

Veiled,
I was a little stingy with the truth in my last reply. Yes my salary was reduced, but I was compensated. I just wanted to make the point that language teachers get bounced around a bit.
I've been reading these postings for some time and have noticed a lot of griping. I gripe too, but I love teaching English overseas and have no intention of getting out of the profession. I was a nine-to-fiver in a windowless room in the States for years so I value everyday that I get to spend with my students. People who read about all the bad experiences that get written about here should put them into perspective. Agree?
