We are a married American couple seeking short term ESL positions in Russia. Mainly looking for St. Petersburg or Siberian locales. Currently teaching in South Korea. Would rather hook up with a school that can arrange accommodation, etc. for us.

Just beginning our research.

Anyone know of possibilities for finding short term work for couples? Especially this time of year?

Any recommendations of locations? Will gladly give up amenities for open spaces and geographical or cultural beauty.

Much more difficult to find job posts than Korea!

Any recommended schools?

Hi,

If you don't object to volunteering, check out the Svezhy Veter web site http://ah@sv-agency.udm.ru/. I worked there last summer. Though they don't pay you, they do provide room and board and you can stay as short or as long as you like. They would also take care of your visas.

Izhevsk is kind of ugly, but the surrounding countryside is beautiful, and the students will certainly invite you on outings.

Just a suggestion,
Buck

Dear "TwoTeach",

For Siberia, try the link below. As Buck already mentioned in his reply, these part-time contracts in out-of-the-way places usually don't pay much, but if you're looking for "the real Russian experience", this may be right up your alley.

The organization is called "Siberian Intercultural Bridges" and their url is:

http://www.texashousing.org/MB/homepage/index.html

FYI: I haven't had any personal experience with them, but I do collect these kinds of links for moments just like these, so ..."caveat emptor" is the rule.

Good luck! Cool

Warm regards,
Kent
