I'm toying with the idea of visiting Bhutan for a couple weeks in March. Has anyone been there? If so, how was your experience there?
Are there loads of visa issues?
I will admit I have not kept abreast of the political situation there or anything of the nature...
ANY information on Bhutan, or Thimpu specifically, would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

My father visited bhutan as a ornithologist back in 1997. They are very strict about how many foreigners they let in every year and what they let them in for. Its very hard to go there.

Bhutan Bans Smoking in Public

And people thought the Irish ban was comprehensive:

Bhutan has become the first country in the world to ban smoking in public
as well as the sale of tobacco. Smoking in the Himalayan kingdom will now
only be legal in private homes. The government says it has introduced the
ban for the well-being of its people. But observers predict tobacco will
still be available on the black market.
