I'm trying to help a wheelchair-bound and well-qualified teacher seek a position in Chile (or anywhere it seems). Anyone in Chile who can give me the lowdown on how much wheelchair access there is in various cities? Anyone ever heard of employers who can accommodate?

Thankx

Im not sure Guy but I reckon Santiago would be a nightmare for someone in a wheelchair. Over the last years in the UK for example wheelchair access has improved considerably and people are much more conscious of the rights of disabled people who should be able to get around like everyone else, but I really believe that Santiago is pretty inhospitable in that sense. Sad, but true.

Santiago can be a difficult city to live in. It's a nightmare for those with disabilities. I never saw wheelchair access in any building. The subway system does not include an elevator. It's difficult just to walk through the city or cross the street. For a person in a wheelchair, it would be even more difficult.
