Hi,

i'm moving out to Argentina in a very short while and have been unable to find info relating to obtaining a visa enabling me to live legally in the country. I know that living there on a tourist visa is not a problem (ie you just leave the country every 3 months) but i'm moving there pretty permanently and buying a house. I'll also be crossing the Chilean border on a very regular basis to visit my girlfriend and a huge amount of entry/exit stamps are likely to arouse the suspsicion of the border guards...

Basically, is it possible to obtain a student or work visa without actually undertaking either of those activities on a full time basis (i've lived in South America before and know that pretty much anything can be done with a little 'help', Argentina included...)? I intend to work part-time (i am a teacher), at least for the first few months whilst i get my self settled, and then maybe full time depending on other commitments.. Are there any other ways of living permanently and legally in the country??? There must be someone out there with experience in this area!!!

Oh, and does anyone know anything more about schools in Mendoza (i've read the reports from a while back on this forum)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

cheers, matt

Hello Matt, Very Happy
I am Marcela from Argentina.
May be by now you solved your problem! Sad
The only thing I can think of, is getting an argentine wife as my husband, being american, did with me to stay here forever Laughing
As I saw you have a chilean gf so that canīt be the case, so you will have to try to be hired like in some kind of important business where you can sign a working contract and get a legal working visa. or else, enrol to study something at some university. That is all I can think of.
If I can help you some, just feel free to contact me! Very Happy
Remember, we, argentines, are very friendly people!! Laughing
I wish you the best and good luck!!! Wink
