Hi, I'm a teacher in Florida and will soon be moving to France. I've just begun the process of finding out about visas, etc., and the information I'm finding on the Internet is pretty confusing! I plan to find a teaching job in the private sector primarily and what I need to find out is what kind of visa to apply for.

From what I have read, I can only seek employment in France with a short-term visa. Once I find a job, then I can apply for a long-term visa. Can anyone give me any insight into this process, as the French consulate will not give visa information over the phone.

I hope that you have checked all comments about the difficulties of non EU nationals working in Europe.

You may find it easier to contact the various American International Schools as well as The Wall Street Institute - they may be able to help you overcome the work permit problem.
