my agent finds work for me at various schools and in general i'm happy with the arrangement. however, today, after a few disagreements with one chinese teacher at one of the schools, i decided to tell my agent that i didn't want that 1.5 hours any longer and that it was because the chinese teacher thinks my material is boring for the kids. i disagreed as they always enjoy what i do with them. however, to avoid further trouble, i just told her to find someone else for the job. now the agent is pissed off at me, crying the blues, and wondering "what she's going to tell the school." i just told her to tell the truth, that the chinese teacher doesn't like my teaching and that i'm not suitable for the class.
the truth seems to be something taiwanese people have trouble fathoming. please don't give me any of this "losing face" stuff either. unless there's no other plausible answer.... |

Even when you are telling the truth they think you are not. So if you say you don't want to teach at that school because of the local teacher, it means that you have a problem with the individuals involved and possibly the agent.
Taiwan is the land of lies. From the constitution to the lowliest traffic citation, very little of what is said or done here reflects the reality of the situation. Get over it. Or better yet get rid of your agent, they are always bad news. |
