is there no tax free allowance in germany like there is in the UK? for example the first �7000 or so is not taxed. Anything you earn after that is. |

I got 1 position for 13 euros/lesson and another for 25 euros/lessons. The former is Berlitz, the latter is a private school. |

This is obviously a small sample size but it's an interesting bimodal distribution. Are the high-earners getting more because they're more experienced or because they're teaching business English? Or what? |

I think it's standard - at least here in Berlin - that schools increase their base-pay incrementally the longer you stay with them. For example 17 euros an hour for the first year, 18 the next, and so on. |
