Hi,
I'm wondering what the possiblity is for over 50 yr olds getting work in Turkey, places like Istanbul, Ankara, the more settled places in general. Neither of us done teaching english before, but one of us has MA plus teaching diploma, and the other done some teaching english to refugees and migrants.
What are the general possibilites for us to get jobs?? Reasonble jobs that is, ok salary, ok conditions etc. Can you recommend any schools etc??
Any advice, comments, much appreciated.
Please be honest,
Thanks,
Matthew |

Age iss probably not a problem. I am 48 and arrived in Istanbul last month. But I do have a CELTA, years of business experience and a year of actual EFL teaching experience. The school I work with won't hire you without EFL teaching experience. That's just the way it is. But I have heard of less well known schools here who do hire what you are offering. Problem is they are more likely to hire you if you are already here so they can check you out in person. I think Turkey is a great country and I like the attitude and learning style of the students I am currently working with. Best of luck with your decision. |

Your chances are good. For me Izmir is maybe better than Istanbul. Problem may be that you get your salary in TRL which is a currency losing value on a daily basis. |
