Hi all,

I am leaving for Barcelona in August to attain a TEFL certificate. Planning to work in either San Sebastian, Bilbao, Gijon, A Coruna or anywhere along the northern coast. Here are few questions I have. Is there anyone out there with past teaching experiences in such places? Should I contact the Spanish Consulate before I go?

Some factors that might affect my chances of employment: I'm Californian (not too worried about offical permits), I have a BA in Anthropology, and already enrolled in a TEFL program.

I was there on a recce mission last summer. Most sizeable towns have one or two small private language schools, sometimes run by expat Brits. My impression is that these schools tend to be more stable employers than some of the dubious snazzy operations that have been going bust recently. The downside is probably that jobs are few and far between.
