I got a job and I signed the contract. Then I got another job (better salary,allowance,etc..). How ethical is it to cancel a contract without having any problems?

Thank you

Ethical or legal?
It's never ethical to go back on a deal, especially a contract. Others can tell you about its legality in uae.

This is a quandry. It is naturally unethical to back out of a signed contract, but many of us have been in this position. Two questions to answer to yourself.

Would you ever want to work for the first place you already signed with? I doubt you would ever get a second offer from them.

Next, are they both in the same country? I know of one person who accepted a job and then got another better offer - both in Oman. When the second college went to apply for his visa, he was already on file with the first employer - and they were blocked. So in this case one ends up in a legal problem. This person ended up having to go to another country.

That sounds like two questions.

OF COURSE it is ethical to cancel a contract. It is unethical to BREACH a contract, but if you have the option of cancelling, and you almost always do, there is nothing unethical about it.

Without having any problems? You mean with no compensation or remedies for the other party? If your cancelling damages them, they have a right to compensation, and such is usually stated in any well-written contract. If it isn't, that's what judges are for.

I agree with whatgoesaround - cancel and breach are not the same thing
(but I'm not a lawyer).

Accept the new contract, and write to the issuers of the old contract, explaining that you are no longer able to abide by it, because of 'a change in your circumstances'. But don't just leave them in the dark - do tell them you won't be turning up!.

Employers rat on deals all the time, so don't feel bad about it. If they'd offered a good deal, you'd have stuck by it - but they didn't. It's 'market forces', as they say.

Go back to the basketball forum power groupies. They have all the answers you need. THey are likely to be candid with you since they are tempted to make the same "light speed" jump into the middle ages.
