Any web sites recruiting esl teachers in Bz? This country seems
very ambigious as to its needs for english teachers but I really
would like to have some experience in South America in a
decently safe place..

Even though I just posted an angry post about them, IICA http://www.mgt.com.br/icbeu/ is easy to get into.

I am really mad at them for shafting me on the certificate... but if you just care about meeting new people and living in a new culture, than who cares!

Just be wise and don't let them manipulate you, and you'll have the experience you want.

If you want more info, PM me!

Rio- My brother lives there and it is a BEAUTIFUL city but the crime is very very high...just watch the news....but I do have friends that live there and they love it.....just watch where you live and go.....

SP- Crime there is also very very high...I have friends that live there and they like it...but hate the crime......Most of them want to leave SP because of the crime.

POA- I live in Porto Alegre....the crime rate here is high...but much much lower than other big cities....Ive never had any problems here that account for much..or I should complain about.

But like I said in other posts if you come to Brazil, most schools will hire you if you are a native speaker.....or you could teach private classes...that where the money is, unless you own a school....You can stay 6months on with out any problems with t-visa....you stay for 3months...go to the police station and tell them you want to stay for more.....or just stay and when you leave you pay a small fine...(it was small a few years ago...about 3or4 bucks aday...My friend stayed 2 weeks longer....)
