Hi!
check out www.immi.gov.au - it's the Australian Department of Immigration website, they have bunch of info on work rights and occupations in demand; I'm pretty sure that as a NZ citizen and qualified to teach at a "regular" school you'll have no problem finding a job.
Good luck! |

hi
Not sure what state your looking at living in - but in NSW all you would have to do is bring your degre, make an interview time with the NSW Dept of Education and then go through the interview process that all teachers who want to work in NSW have to go through. It would be similar in the other states.
check out www.teach.nsw.edu.au
I should warn you there is a HUGE waiting list for fulltime jobs in primary school teaching in NSW, unless you want to go out bush - and im not talking about 4 hrs wet of Sydney - im talking say 8 to 12 hours from sydney - maybe even more.
If your a highschool teacher your job chances improve greatly as there is a shortage of those! |

I am a Canadian who will soon graduate with a B Ed degree, and will be qualified to teach HS math. Would love to work in the Sydney area next year.
From what I found, teaching in the public school system would be very hard, because they do not sponsor foreigners, even though there is a shortage in some areas. To work over there I would need a sponsor, and so this would mean I have to focus my search on the private school system.
But, I suspect the private schools want people with at least 2 years teaching experience. So, unless someone knows otherwise, I may have to wait for a bit. |
