I understand this place is an hour away from Bangkok, what else is it like?

Good - the drab flatness of the plains starts to give way to some pretty terrain. Chokchai Farms is nearby, and is a popular site for English Camps. There's also an important Buddha footprint there, with a well-visited mondop.

Bad - dusty. One of Thailands largest industries is cement, and a lot of it is centered here, where the "Paving of Thailand" project is supplied one mountain at a time.

A nice place to visit, but...

A good (well cheap) shooting range there as well (or not too far away anyway!).
