Hi there,

I'm looking to head out to Italy around October, take a TEFL course (probably through Via Lingua - anyone heard anything bad about them?), and then start teaching at the beginning/Middle of November. I was wondering if anyone knew about finding a job at this time of year.
Is it difficult?

Also - I am currently a First Grade Teacher in the US, looking for an adventure (hence the decision to live overseas), but I would like to continue working with kids if possible.

Does anyone know of any good schools in Florence/Venice area?
Would it be especially difficult to find a job working with kids around November?

Thanks for any advice you can give!!

Thea

'Working with kids' implies that you'd like to teach at an international school, I think. Italian children are obviously going to Italian-language schools....

I recommend that you try a search for international schools in the areas you're interested in, contact them, and ask about qualifications and openings. It's not common for private language schools to offer much for kids. Further, you'd have a problem finding legal work in Italy at private schools as a non-EU member citizen, assuming you've got only a U.S. passport. International schools may offer a legal route 'in' that private schools can't.
