I'm coming to Taiwan at the end of June to do a summer camp gig for 3 weeks. For this job I was told to get a one-month tourist visa on arrival. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with my visa situation if I decided that I wanted to do a year-long stint here? Does one have to leave the country, get a work visa, and then fly back? |

The one month tourist visa when you arrive covers your gig and is free. Go with that first because you're not sure what you want to do yet. If you want to stay, try and find a job during your 30 day tourist block. Then you'll have to do a visa run to HK, Banknok...etc. where you'll apply for a 60 day tourist visa . If you have a job lined up...and they're on the ball... the 60 days is enough time to get you a work permit/ARC so you won't have to leave again. Make sure you bring all required documents degrees etc) and plenty of passport size photos just in case...it'll save you a hassle. |
