I know that English is widely spoken in the Phillipines, but it is also in India and there are English teachers there...

Interesting point as the Phillipines are getting big into call centers at the moment, which is where the bulk of the work in India is.
It might be an idea to approach the call centers direct.
Let me know if it works out.

English is official in India, but only in certain areas/for certain purposes. English is official throughout the Philippines, and they also export ESL teachers. It would probably be easier to find work in "accent reduction" - making people sound western.

Hi.

Having worked there back in 2003 i can say that it is pretty hard to find good jobs there whether in ESL-related or other fields. I consider i was lucky to work there for the British Council and had a great time but found that the local ESL scene was pretty much taken over by locals whose English is more or less native speaker standard anyway (or beyond if David Beckham is included) so is a pretty dead scene for foreign 'experts'.

Its a shame cos along with Indonesia, its prob my fave country in East Asia however as noted above the newly booming call centre industry may be worth checking out.

Good luck
