I bought a new Nissan x-trail for about 18,000$.Buy a Nissan or a Toyota as they hold their value. Also buy it after Ramadan as they always do really good promotions then.

Go to the car souk.....in the Industrial area..street 4 I believe on a Sunday.
It's mostly full of Qatari's who can't keep up the car payments on their dream cars..and are desperate for someone else to take over the responsibility.

They drive up and down the street showing off their pride and joy.....until someone flags them down and the negotiations begin.

Good luck.

Nissan or Toyota are your best bet. They have good resale value, their parts and cheap and available, they can be fixed at many garages - not just the dealerships, they have good AC...

Be careful buying cars from young Qatari guys. Many of them drive offroad or like maniacs. Summer is approaching, and many sell their cars to travel. The industrial area is good for used cars, however, make sure you have them inspected before buying.
