I just got accepted for a job in Gliwice, Poland near Krakow. I was wondering is anyone had advice for someone before they arrive. Is a guide book a good idea-if so what are some good ones. It seems that most people on this board is happy in Poland, is Gliwice a good place?

Gliwice is a really nice town and quite cosmopolitan for its size with a few foreign restaurants and bars. Not short on history and old architecture if youre into that sort of stuff.
If you want a guide book Lonely Planet is by far and away the best one to get (in my humble opinion).
Its not that near Krakow - about 1 1/2 - 2 hours away by train.
All the best to you |

I actually live in Gliwice so perhaps I can give You any information You need. Who are You going to work for? I know a man, who used to work for UCELT or something like that.
Generally, Gliwice is a very nice place to live. Population about 200 000, on the edge of Silesian Industrial District. A huge technical university is placed here and its influence is visible from time to time (some student parties and concerts etc.)
If You like trekking and skiing there are some hills just 70 kilometres from the town.
Well, I could write like this for long, so ask about something more exact and I'll gladly reply. |
