New to the forum and this is my first post.
I was wondering if anyone had any info about teaching English privately in Chile?. I would work for an institue at first to get the exp.
I am in the U.K and will be in Chile from Nov 2005 till March 2006.
I do not have a certificate or anything like that but I have taught people from the Middle East English here in the UK for the last few years on a private basis. I also studied English Lit as well as did a few extra courses on grammar and phonetics etc.
I speak fluent Spanish and am a Chilean national, though I grew up and was educated in the UK . No visa or work permit issues thankfully. I have a place to stay in Chile just outside Santiago proper so no living fees other than food.
I have read some language institues take on ppl without the certificates etc I am not too fussy about the money as I have my own business here in the UK and plan to return to Chile full time in the next year and a half.
I just thought teaching English would be a good way of getting a foothold on the English teaching as I would like to do that when I live in Chile for awhile till I get settled.
Any and all info greatly appreciated. Also if I can be of help to anyone travelling to Chile etc I would be more than happy to help.
Thanks Jorge |

well, you can always post ads on windows and buildings and stuff like that. i think its mostly that you will find students through other people you meet. or you can steal them from the institutes once your class is over.
