If so where? I am fed up with using Lider or Jumbo curry powder so am on the hunt for somewhere selling the necessary spices, etc to make my own.

Deli? No. But there are the following things that might help you:

Tostaduria Puerto Rico on 21 de Mayo and San Pablo near Mercado Central. They sell most spices I can think of that you might use.

Tostaduria Talca, on Miraflores between Huerfanos and Merced, not as good a selection, but a much less chaotic place. They also have a location on Tobalaba (I think), near Pocuro (kinda Provi/Nunoa)

The Vega Central. There are several spice sellers, but you'd have to just wander and follow your nose to find what you're looking for. Also walk way to the right and to the back until where it's all awnings, and there you can find tiny eggplants, occasionally okra, etc. Not cheap, but good.

A couple of Middle Eastern Supply stores, where you might be able to get other things you're looking for (there's a lot of spice overlap), on Avenida Peru, a short walk from the bottom of Cerro San Cristobal in Bellavista. All closed on Sundays.

Also, that I know of there are two Indian Restaurants, one which is in the Best Western, called The Majestic, on Santo Domingo kinda downtown, like near Bandera, and the other which I can't remember the name of, on Rancagua near Condell, is Indian and Bangladeshi. If all else fails, maybe you could ask them where they are getting their stuff.

And when are you inviting us all for dinner...?

Wow that's great, thanks. I've been in Santiago 4 months and the only place I've come across is Majestic's at the Best Western.

As for the dinner invite watch this space!
