I know it sounds unlikely but a prescription medication I need on an ongoing basis will be at least $US3000 per year more expensive for me to buy here in Mexico than I used to pay in Canada (we can get the generic version in Canada). I`m running out of the supply I brought with me and I want to have more mailed down to me.
I`ve checked with everyone (couriers, consulates, post offices) about the process and I`ve been given several long lists of forms and offical authorizations needed to "import" medication.
Has anyone tried to simply have a precription medication mailed or couriered into Mexico with only a doctor`s letter and the written prescription enclosed with the package?
Thanks for any advice. |

Has anyone tried it?
Yes.
What happened?
Not what you want to here. It was sent by FedEx and held in customes, when my co-worker called FedEx in Mexico City to see what happened to her package she was told that rather than prosecute the sender, they would be willing to return the package to the sender (at his cost) on the good faith that they assumed he was unaware of the fact that it is illegal to import medicine into Mexico.
What you should do is find out is it is a medicine you can get from Seguro(the "national" health system) , then try to get a job that will give you seguro.
Best of Luck, |
