Hey Everyone! I'm a newbie here. I'm so glad I found this forum!
I am a 25 year old Canadian who plans to move to Italy in the fall with a friend. We're interested in teaching English. I have a University degree as well as a TESL certificate. I speak Italian and am also an Italian citizen. (In the process of receiving my Italian passport) Unfortunately I don't have any teaching experience. Will this really hurt my chances of finding a job? I'm not even sure if I really want to do this but it sounded like it would be a great experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated from anyone presently teaching in Italy, or who has taught in Italy in the past, or even those of you who plan on going there to work.
I'll take any advice I can get!!
Mille Grazie!!

hi, i want to go to italia too this year!
have a look on www.tefl.com for job ads.
do you have any 'transferable' experience- babysitting, voluntary work in schools? all relevant i'm sure, especially if you have the qualifications to go with it. good luck and here's to sunshine, pizza, coffee and vespas! |

Hi there,
I'm actually teaching in China at the moment, and heading to Italy in a month or so. There are tons of positions being advertised on www.tefl.com as you probably know by now. You shouldn't have any bother getting one. I have experience and a tefl cert but no degree and have had loads of replies and phone interviews.......which are basically little chats, don't stress!! Probably heading to Sicily if ye are heading we should meet up for a coffee or a slice of Italy!!
Best of luck!! |

Your EU citizenship is a major bonus. You shouldn't worry. |
