Hi all
I am a new user in this group from India

I have got a job offer in Sohar as engineer with following terms:

Basic : 450 OR
HRA :150 OR
Transportation: 50 OR
Total : 650 OR

One time furniture,free medical ,schooling (Indian school),free air ticket for family(wife and a kid) once a year.

Can somebody advice me on following please as time left with me is very less for accepting this offer:

1. What will be the normal rental in Sohar( a 2 bedroom flat)? What are the electricity and water rates in addition?Are these apartments or independent houses?
2. How is the standard of education in schools?
3. How much a new or second and car costs/rental in Oman and what will be the fuel rates?
4. How much are the average fooding expenditure for a family of three?Just a rough idea
5. What other expenses apart from schooling,rental and food incurred?
6. How is the place Sohar?(safety,facilities wise)
7. The salary I shall be getting is 650 OR.Is it a reasonable one or on the lower/higher side?What can be the scope of saving?
8. Are there oppurtunities available for women for teaching (English language)/administrative jobs?
9. Any other point which can help him after landing in Oman.


Sorry for the long list of queries but this being a lifetime decision.
