I'm sorry to ask a question that hasn't anything to do with teaching, but because my hiking trail and visa questions were so nicely answered way back I thought I'd try.....
How safe is it to have large packages shipped to Taiwan from overseas? I'm thinking of having my stereo system and/or computer shipped here but have no idea if this amounts to the local postal workers receiving early Christmas presents (well, presents, anyway).
Forgive my ignorance, but I don't have any experience with this sort of thing - is FedEx or UPS or whatever the best way to go? Cheers --

It's pretty easy to have things shipped here. I would recommend having a PO box or having it shipped to your school. If it is being shipped from the US it will be terribly expensive if you want here within your lifetime. I had a large package of glass objects sent to me global priority(better than airmail) for only $8US more than airmail. Everything was in good shape(ie not broken) but postage set me back $130US. Cost is going to be the kicker.
