What does "GCC & ITKD " mean in front of the name of a school?
My school is GCC & ITKD Lau Pak Lok and I have no idea what all those letters stand for....and I would sure hate to look like a fool.

On a lighter note, only 4 work days and 11 total days until I leave the horror I am in and move to Hong Kong. Quiet frankly, despite all the rather NET basing posts of late, I am still thrilled to be going.

In the case of my schools, the initials are the initials of the people who had something to do with the schools' beginnings. By fossicking around their web sites, I was able to find the full names of the schools. The teacher I've been in touch with doesn't seem to use the full names at all, so I doubt you'll look silly. She just uses the rest of the school's name, without the initials, when she talks about the school. I can't guarantee that it would be the same in every school, though.

You could also go the the EMB website, click on Schools button just to the right of the top picture. Check your schools' names in the Schools List -- you might find the full meaning of the initials there.

I think you probably saw 'CCC', not 'GCC'. CCC stands for Church of Christ in CHina (though it is and never has been in China where talk of Christ is not exactly encouraged).

Actually, Foster is correct. The school has a website and its correct title IS GCC&ITKD. I have no idea what the initials stand for.

Is it a higher level school? Average? Inner city slum???
