Hello. I am looking at teaching somewhere in Mexico in about a year (fall '04), for a year and i am looking for any advice that people can give me. I graduated this past May with a B.A. in TEFL and am currently doing an internship teaching ESL. I am looking for a job in the D.F. as I already have many friends there, but am open to going anywhere. I know money isnt that great, but i would like to live semi-comfortably. Has anyone had really great experiences at a particular school, or strongly recommends a certain city to look into? Please give me any advice you can offer.

Thank you.

While almost all of the top paying jobs are in Mexico City and business themed, there are positions to be filled in just about every corner of Mexico. Try looking in the larger centers first 9on pay) such as Guadalajara and Monterrey. Next, try the central highlands, like Queretaro, San Luis Potusi, Cuernavaca, San Miguel de Allende. Last, try the coasts (lower pay) like Merida, Cancun, Acapulco, PV, Villahermosa...

I think other than Monterrey, there is not much in the north, unless you chase a unversity position...

You might also want to check out ITESM (itesm.mx), they have a prepa (roughly high school) program. They pay pretty well and are professional. They have many campuses around Mexico. They are pretty competitive. Fall semester starts Aug 11 so if they need to hire, they need to hire fast! BTW, no matter where you intend to go or who you intend to work for. Start now, getting certified copies of your birth certificate and diplomas. You need to also have these "apostilled" basically a form of certifying their authenticity. If youre from the US, check with your state's secretary of state. This will make getting your work visa much simpler.

Thank you for the advice you have given to me thus far. i am looking for potential job opportunities, and anything i can get i will be grateful for.
When i was in Mexico City earlier this year i did some job hunting. I picked up some brochures/talked to some people. One school that impressed me was one near the World Trade Center called Direct English. Has anyone had any experience with this organization?
Another question: how do i go about looking for a job teaching business english? I assume that businesses will hire a teacher and the teacher will go on site to different locations. Does the business contact a language school to find that teacher? Also, how long can i expect the paperwork to take on my end to get everything prepared?
Thank you for all the advice you have given me, and thank you in advance for the advice to come.
