Hi,

I am an ESOL teacher working for a major international language school chain in New Zealand. Recently my colleagues and I joined a union to bargain for a collective agreement with the school. The school we work for has plenty of good aspects but also plenty to work in the area of employment conditions.

I know several schools in NZ and others undoubtedly in Australia have been through a similar process in recent years and am interested in talking to teachers from such schools and those in other countries with similar experiences.

It would be great to get some pointers on how to bargain effectively and in good faith so we can work out an agreement that is fair to both parties. On the whole we enjoy working at our school and don't want any bad feelings to linger once agreement has been reached. Any feedback greatly appreciated.
