Are letters of release needed in Kuwait like other gulf countries? Is there a high likelihood of receiving one? Just saw a job position that I would like to apply for, but am currently employed in Kuwait. Thank you for your response.

One is legally reqiured to have worked for an Employer/Sponsor 12 months before being able to request Transfer of IQAMA. Residence/Work Permit - namely the Visa 18 to a NEW Employer/Sponsor ....... unless holding a BA or MA for transferring at any time. [Ooops - not originally aware that enquirer had such.]

The escape route for some who do not hold such is exit Kuwait to Bahrain or wherever and return on brand new documents of next awaiting Employer/Sponsor.

Release is done for Transfers by you obtaining a new VISA 18 form from the Shoon Office that you must ask the NEW Employer/Sponsor to sign and officially stamp, then give it to the current-old Employer Sponsor to sign and officially stamp. The form is then passed to the NEW Employer/Sponsor's office for processing your Visa 18 and Civil ID Card.

Release is known as TANUZUL.

Release enables Transfer and NOBODY [with or without wasta] has to exit Kuwait for that process.

Hey guys,

sorry but the above post is wrong. There is no 12 month limit to transfer your residency or visa to another company. If you hold a BA or MA you can transfer at any time. You dont have to leave kuwait and come back. I know this because have done it myself and it didnt involve wasta.
sorry. check your facts.
