Use a real estate agent. They are the fastest and most effective way of getting exactly what you want. |

Are you sure they`d bother finding single occupancy housing? It doesn`t seem like it would be worth their time and effort. I thought they focused on executive accomodations where they can make the most money. I hope I`m wrong though.
Also, could you give me a range of what rent might be for a furnished bachelor pad in Taipei? Thanks in advance for any info you can supply. |

Try Tsui Mama, a non-profit housing locator. They charge a small fee (about $250NT) for a list of rentals in your choice of neighborhoods. You have to contact the landlords yourself however, so knowing some Chinese or getting a friend to help you would increase your chances of finding something. Here's the website: http://www.tmm.org.tw
Real estate agents are also good, as they can speak English and save you a lot of hassle. For their efforts, they charge a fee equal to half of one month's rent. Paranoid people often complain about agents trying to "rip you off." You must understand that it is perfectly OKAY to bargain with potential landlords. This goes for agents as well. If you go through an agent, tell them the max you're willing to spend is lower than what you actually have in mind (for example, if you don't want to pay more than 15,000NT, then tell them you can only pay 10,000NT), and take it from there. Good luck. |
