The problem in Italy is that you need contacts. Who you know will impress an Italian employer far more than how qualified you are. When the type of position that you mention falls vacant, the institution involved will often go through the motions of advertising and interviewing but, at the end of the day, you will normally find that they take somebody who has a relative already working there. It's worth a try, of course, but you will probably come up repeatedly against this type of thing. As regards language schools, most offer Italian contracts taken from a book of contracts called "scuole private". The conditions are non-negotiable and you will find that there will be no difference in the pay offered to someone with a PHD and a host of other qualifications plus experience in other countries, and somebody who has just completed a two-week "method" course at the "University of Saint-Mary's-in-the-Mud". I have to admit that there are signs that the Italian mentality to this state of things is changing slowly. But I wouldn't hold your breath! |
