this may seem a silly question but I am hoping to go to Taiwan and teach (I have the degree and CELTA) and was wondering whether my tattoos would be a problem. Of course I would keep them covered when teaching but what about in my time off, how are they regarded? I know that traditionally they are a sign of illegal gang membership but wondered what local thoughts were nowadays.
People are surprised that I have them as I have quite a conventional look I suppose. They are not crude nor very big. I have a butterfly on my shoulder and a symbol (not of anything in particular) on my inner ankle. Obviously when I wear sleeveless tops and skirts or shorts they will be visible. I guess it's reading about Elizabeth Bretel that has got me thinking about my general safety.
Thank you for any info. |
