I just sent all my supporting documents to the nearest consulate and about a month later I received a passport in the mail.

When I lived in Europe, I loved traveling through the Frankfurt airport and showing my German passport, because the Customs/Immigration people would always speak to me in German and I would look at them sweetly but blankly. They babble on for a bit, while I stood there looking lost, until they saw that my passport was issued by the Generalkonsulat - Vancouver.

Does that mean that you are proud of the fact that you don't speak German ?

I don't recall mentioning anything about pride. I can't really imagine why I would be "proud" of not knowing something.

I found the situation entertaining.
