Sure I'd like to try Africa for a change (tired of teaching in Asia) but I haven't read of any country where there is any serious money to be made. Any white face in a necktie who has been to university (or not) and can teach (or not - I've met plenty of them) can get a job in Vietnam. I hear the same is true of China.
And Africa? |

Just 2 fairly good paying jobs where u could save money that I've noticed so far - the job with the oil company in Equatorial Guinea and another in Libya. But, I think that you would need to thoroughly check out the previous postings on these regarding job conditions. Also, various scams offering good salaries and conditions seem to be popping up again from certain African countries especially Nigeria so beware and check them out carefully. |

You missed out by a few years. There was reasonable money to be made in Africa in the post-Independence boom in the 1960's and 1970's.
Those days of nice contracts through the British ODA are long gone. |

Its certainly possible to save money in Africa.
I save about 1000 US a month (management/teaching)
(and the teachers can save 800 US.)
When I was in China I saved about 500 US
In Vietnam about 400 US
In Thailand next to nothing. (one year negative savings!!!)
Only in the Gulf States was I able to save more than I can save in Africa now.

China is not a place to make money. Surely you meant to say you saved 500 US in a semester. It took me a full semester to save $1K, and I was the only foreign teacher who cooked ALL my own meals and never went to bars. |

No I saved 500 US a month.
My salary was 8500 Rmb which is a reasonable TEFL sal in China.
If you work for 3000 Rmb a month you get what you deserve. |

Where are the jobs in Sudan?
There is development in the South Sudan region, because the peace is for real -- I know, I was there in June of this year.
The only jobs I see in South Sudan are volunteer jobs.
Thanks. |

I saved working in Morocco. Of course, nothing like working in the Gulf states, but if you find a place with cheap rent, and don't eat out all the time, you can live comfortably. |

I saved about $1600 a month in the Sudan. Mind you it was because there was nothing there to spend it on. And I did spend my money when I left on holiday. |
