I have only visited Delhi a number of times, so take my answers with that grain of salt...

I had a couple of western friends who lived there, and they said it was great to live in (especially in relation to the south). I've heard from a few people that it is the best city to live in, in India. This is obviously very subjective to one's tastes.
I found it to be a bustling city with many things to do.
For western women, the north can be a harrowing place to be, IMO.

Plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs. Delhi and Mumbai will give you most of the nightlife of western cities (relative to other cities in India).

3 what is the cost of living like how much do i need to earn a month to be fine

I personally wouldn't move there for less than $1000-1500/month. You can live there for much less, however, depending on what kind of lifestyle you prefer.

4 can i watch the premiership some where in the city

Definitely. Though you'll have to wait to hear from a resident to find out exactly where.

Hi, I worked there for a year and didn't really enjoy it so much, although I know plenty of people who did...

1 whats the city generaly like to live in are the people ok dose it have any cosmopolitan areas to it

Lots of nice people, lots of awful ones. If you've a good salary there's plenty to do and places to go. If not, then on long weekends, there are interesting, cheaper places to visit. If you've only two days it's a bit difficult - long train/bus journeys

2 whats the night life like for a 26 year old guy who likes to go out of a evening what is there to do

With money, lots. But I thought it was disappointing compared to home. Lots of bars/nightclubs. I'm married, so I didn't try to pull, honest - other singles have told me it's hard to, ahem, get laid. But lots of girls want relationships.

3 what is the cost of living like how much do I need to earn a month to be fine

For a nightclubbing lifestyle? Well as I remember from 2 years ago, upmarket restaurants will be over 500R a meal. Bars are maybe 130R a local beer, 300R upwards for cocktails. Then 500-1000R nightclub (attached to 5 star hotels) entrance fees for single guys or couples (but some free alcohol included in the price). Of course, there are cheaper, scabbier places.

4 Can I watch the premiership some where in the city

Sure, hotel bars, etc. And also cheap to get cable TV

any other advice or info about the place would be greatfully

It's cheaper and nicer in Goa/Kerala.. but then I couldn't find any jobs there! Air Deccan does cheap flights all over so it's nice to make money in Delhi and holiday elsewhere in India.
I don't really want to say how much it costs to live there - too subjective. Hopefully the alcohol price list will help you - it was one of my main issues.

You could live off rice and dal after all and share a hostel dorm with 20 others - 1000R a month?

How would New Delhi compare to Mumbai?

For whatever reason, I have the impression that Mumbai would be best for the type of lifestyle the OP would like. But just curious about other's perceptions of this.
