|

Okay, so I am taking the CELTA course in Moscow at BKC, and I am going to be arriving there Jan. 12th. I was wondering if finding a job within a month or two after the course is a realistic goal? I am going to be turning twenty in the summer, and I will have had no formal teaching experience, just my CELTA certificate. I was just wondering, because if I can't find a job within a month or two after the CELTA course I wont have any money left to survive in Russia.
I realize that there are many different factors as to whether I will get a job, so please assume that I would have completed my CELTA with average to above average marks, and that I have decent communication skills, i.e. I already realize that if I didnt pass the CELTA or if I am an eccentric weirdo I wont get a job.
I also realize my age will make some employers nervous, but I would be willing to work hard to prove myself. So please help me out so I know what to expect, because I dont want to wind up living on the streets of Russia with only my CELTA certificate to keep me warm.
Thank you for your help. |

Given that BKC is constantly advertising for teachers, I'm sure they'd be happy to hire you if you complete the course successfully. Your age will not be a problem.
I am aware that there are better places to work in Moscow but they are far from a sure thing for a new teacher. |

ok thanks for your help. As long as there are shcools over there that are willing to hire someone with no experience, I dont think I should worry too much. |

I took the celta in BKC last Summer. I was also twenty at the time, although I had no plans to stay on in Moscow after. Of the ten or so people that took the celta, everyone passed. Provided you pass and want to stay on in Moscow (rather than go somewhere else), BKC will give you an interview, and more than likely a job afterwards.
Good luck - it's a tough four weeks! |
