Hi,

Just need to know if bank machines in Istanbul are compatible with the following debit card companies: Interac, Cirrus, Maestro, or Bank of Montreal. I know these companies do not exist in some countries.

Thanks.

I have used both VISA and Mastercard (Maestro) in Turkish ATM's. That was in istanbul and I cannot comment on things away from the former capital.

It is still a cash-oriented economy but they are moving over to electronic banking fast. Cash is good and I would suggest some dollar or euro bills, in addition to your ATM cards.

you should have no trouble with major credit cards in the machines, in stores or in the banks. also, your bank card should have the PLUS logo on the back. you can use your card in bank machines that display this symbol. only certain banks' machines will take your card. my bank is Royal Bank of Canada. I remember Is ("ish") Bank was one bank that the card worked in. A lot of them don't work though, sometimes it was a pain to find an ATM.
