Have you considered hiring a private eye Cool

More seriously, does this actually have anything to do with teaching/efl jobs? It seems kind of tangential, but maybe you have a very good reason for approaching this topic in such a tangent.

For some people "Research Skills" means posting the question - whatever it is - on Dave's ESLCafe !

Go to Google.com. Go directly to Google.com. Do not pass Go. Do not collect €200. Type in "genealogy" or "ancestry research" and hit return.

Scot47 was commenting on your lack of research skills.
I searched Google using the keywords "Irish genealogy." There must be something relevant among the 40,000+ results that came up.

As you haven't posted the name it's somewhat difficult to give more detailed advice. I'm not sure any of us would have the confidence that your spelling of the name was correct anyway.

I wonder if anyone has ever traced any family name of non-noble blood down to an area more specific than a county anyway. Given the origin of most family names, that kind of thing isn't usually possible (cf Mr Jones).

What does this guy want? Spoon-feeding?
Try this site: http://www.familysearch.org/
Failing that, go to Google.com and type in the words "genealogy" and "Hayfron." Hit the return key. Simple.

This guy started the thread back in Novemeber. If in the sapce of three months he cannot manage to type a name into a search engine, is there really any hope?
