One of my best friends has been living and working in Phnom Penh for the past two years and has been quite happy, allowing for the occasional disatisfactions from time to time that will be present no matter where you live. He has no active intention of leaving, and seems to be quite happy and seems to content to stay there for the foreseeable future.
Of course this is just one data point. I'm sure the only real way to find out is to relocate their yourself and see how you personally like it. After all, in the end that's the only vote that will count, right? |

Depends very much on what you're looking for. I just came back from Cambodia two weeks ago (vacation) and I don't think I could live there. Siem Reap was fine because Angkor is so beautiful that it makes up for the bad points, but Phnom Penh was so incredibly dirty (it literally stinks EVERYWHERE) that it made it hard to enjoy anything. Maybe you get used to these things? It's just so extremely poor and dirty and dusty... If you have a specific reason for choosing Cambodia, then by all means, go, but if you're just looking at Asia in general, this wouldn't be my first option. |
